Clever Star Wars Themed Road Signs That Made New York Drivers Smile
The month of May is filled with celebrations. Once you count the birthdays and anniversaries don't forget Mother's Day, prom season, college graduations, Memorial Day and today is Cinco De Mayo.
One day of celebration that you 'May' have missed was Star Wars Day, Sunday May 4th. You know who didn't miss Star Wars Day? Take a look at some of the caution sings spotted around the Empire State, mostly on the New York State Thruway, on May 4th.

Fans of the Star Wars movie franchise have been celebrating Star Wars Day since the line 'May the force be with you" was uttered in the very first Star Wars movie in 1977. With a slight alteration to "May the 4th", Star Wars Day was born.
The New York State Thruway Authority controls the messaging on the Thruway and on a rainy May the 4th they used a little humor to remind people to drive with caution. Here is one example spotted in the Capital Region.
British politicians are rumored to be the first, outside of the movie, to use the reference. On May 3, 1979 the Conservative Party ran a newspaper ad stating "Dear Maggie, may the 4th be with you", in support of Margaret Thatcher's bid for Prime Minister in the general election.
