Story Employee Belt Whips Unruly Child

Ever been to a store and watch someone's lack of parenting in full effect?

The kid running around the store screaming, knocking things off the shelves, running in to you, etc all the while their parent(s) just ignore them because that works so well.

One Dollar General employee was fed up and took punishment into her own hands.

Emilia Graciela Bell, 39, has since been fire for the incident that took place over the weekend in Wrightsville, GA.

A family arrived in the store - mother, daughter, and 8-year-old son - when the boy began to run around the store, knocking things off the shelves, and even threw a cookie at Emilia.

The mother was not around the boy when this happened, so Emilia took actions into her own hands. She chased the boy down, took off her belt, and began to bend him over her knee while spanking him with said belt.

The boys fathers says "It was more or less a beating than a spanking the way she was hitting him." Security footage from the store that shows the entire incident hasn't been released by police yet but the family stands on the "beating" claim. However, the mother and daughter didn't see the incident at all - so it's all the boy's word against Emilia's.

The boy, Logan, talked with 11 Alive about the pain he felt saying "I felt like I had five needles sticking in me; it really hurt, I was screaming 'Mama' and I was crying real bad because she had actually hurt me...when she stopped whipping me my pants were actually a little bit warm."

Emilia was immediaty arrested, admitted that she spanked the boy with her belt, and posted bail later that day.

We are deeply shocked and saddened by the reported incident at our store in Wrightsville, Ga and have expressed our sincere apologies to the child's family. This incident is contrary to our core values of serving our customers and communities and does not reflect the commitment of our nearly 93,000 employees to treat everyone who enters our stores with kindness and respect. The type of behavior described in this incident is unacceptable, and the person responsible is no longer employed by Dollar General.
