The Former Sears In Colonie Center To Be Filled With Outdoor Gear
REI, or Recreational Equipment Incorporated is looking to move into the space vacated by Sears in Colonie Center. REI is a huge camping and outdoor recreation equipment company that has loyal followers all over the globe.
According to an article in The Times Union REI is looking to expand the former Sears location into a 25,600 square foot retail space filled with camping, skiing, clothing and other outdoor gear.
"At Colonie Center, REI would be joining retailers that include Whole Foods, Barnes & Noble and Boscov's. It would be only a few doors down from LL Bean, which also offers camping equipment and other outdoors gear and clothing." -The Times Union
There's no word on when construction will begin and when REI is hoping to open their newest store in the Capital Region. Currently the closest store is in Yonkers, West Hartford, Conn., and Framingham, Mass.
