The One That Got Away: The End Times Tour
Logging into Facebook this morning, I clicked the "On This Day" feature to show me my memories from this day over the past years. BAD move. All I got was a stinging memory of my biggest regret- a concert that never was.
Scrolling down through the memories was a post of mine from 2015, with excited jibberish about how I just got the best concert tickets EVER. They were tickets to go see "The
End Times Tour" featuring The Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson. Two tickets for Section 2, Row GG, seats 8 and 9, in Boston.
The Smashing Pumpkins basically summarize my younger years, from the era of cassette tapes transitioning in to the CD era. I can't even begin to describe the amount of times that I listened to "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness," or the jealousy that I felt at my schoolmate who had her locker decorated with it's album artwork. In fact, on my bucket list this year is to finally get a "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" tattoo, or literally just that, in homage to one of my favorite songs.
And Marilyn Manson. Any tour is automatically awesome with Manson. There are still days where "Deep Six" is playing in my car ON REPEAT over and over. In my days of dancing burlesque, I used to practice routines to Marilyn Manson songs, and blast his songs over and over, to the utmost annoyance of my apartment neighbors. Now I just blast them and rock out in my car.
At the last minute, despite my countdown of days to see the show, something unexpected occurred and I was unable to go. Leaving this the concert experience that I will ALWAYS regret. And seeing the memory of the tickets on Facebook- talk about a burn.
What's your "one that got away"?
