These U.S. Veteran Grave Markers Stolen From New York Cemetery!
I am confident that most humans understand that, when visiting a cemetery, there are some unwritten rules and proper etiquette to follow. Be considerate of others, be quiet and be aware that other cemetery visitors might be upset while visiting. You certainly shouldn't have a loud phone conversation or have your car radio cranked at the cemetery and you should always respect the graves.
New York State Police are investigating the theft of graves markers placed in honor of our United States Military Veterans. Who would do such a thing? Here's what we know.
According to a Facebook post, New York State Police Troop E, are investigating the theft of 40 United States Veterans grave markers, similar to the one pictured below. The larceny took place between September 1st and September 2nd.
Thieves allegedly entered Saint Patrick's Cemetery, located at 990 High Street in the town of Victor, NY, and left with 40 grave markers. These markers are placed near headstones to honor our veterans and express gratitude for the sacrifices they made for our country.
According to the United States department of Veterans Affairs, The original standard grave marker precedes the establishment of national cemeteries in 1862 and actually has its origin in the frontier days of this country prior to the Civil War.
