This Creepy Insect Lives In Your NY House! Should You Kill It?
I have a confession. I am a cold blooded killer. I found myself confronted by an intruder in my Niskayuna home and had no choice. The story you are about to read is true. None of the names have been changed.
One bit of warning as you read this in your comfortable home here in New York State. This intruder could be in your house right now. Crawling around your basement, bathroom or bedroom. What would you do if this creature jumped in the air and landed on you? You'd kill it too.
I was sitting on my bed when my girlfriend starting freaking out pleading with me "You have to kill it! Kill it!"! Seconds later I felt something land on my head. Now I am freaking out! What is this thing with long legs, short body and the ability to jump?
Have you ever encountered a Camel Cricket, Cave Cricket or Spider Cricket? From what I am told they are one and the same. Over the weekend I not only encountered one, we battled and the insect lost.
According to Insect Identification the Spotted Camel Cricket, is very common in New York State so be on the lookout this Summer. You might find them in your basement or bathroom. I believe the one in my house hitched a ride from the basement to my bedroom and then he literally sprang into action. I think he tried to kill me.
Fact is they come out at night to feed. Their diet consists of plants and other insects. Breathe easy, they are harmless to humans. Wish I knew that before I killed him.
