Happy Birthday today (April 18) to Mark Tremonti. The lead guitarist for Creed and Alter Bridge is 43. Other rockers celebrating include former Everclear drummer Greg Eklund (47), drummer Mike Mangini if Dream Theater (54), original Bulletboys guitarist Mick Sweda (57) and singer Kelly Hansen of Foreigner (56).

Mark Tremonti is best known for his work with Creed and Alter Bridge. He’s a well respected as a guitarist and for his songwriting which earned him a Grammy Award for the Creed song “With Arms Wide Open”. Tremonti formed Creed with singer Scott Stapp in 1993. When Creed disbanded in 2004, Tremonti along with fellow creed members (bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips) formed Alter Bridge. The band also features singer Myles Kennedy. Creed reunited in 2009 but have been on hiatus since 2012.

I got a chance to meet the Mark Tremonti and the rest of Alter Bridge backstage at SPAC last summer when the band opened for Disturbed and Breaking Benjamin. They were a great bunch of guys and fun to chat with. See photo below. Mark Tremonti also has his other project called Tremonti. For more on Mark Tremonti, check out his official website here.
