Vintage Lunch Box Collection Makes This Cooperstown Ice Cream Shop A Rare Treat

I love taking a ride, destination unknown, and stumbling into a place you will never forget. The Capital Region and beyond is filled with antique stores and more that will take you back in time and visit some memories. Jerry's place in Hartwick is one of those places along the road to Cooperstown and I am happy we made the stop.

While you enjoy a sandwich, burger or a sundae, your mind will be drifting back to the 1970's as you take in the sight of Elvis and a classic collection of car scale models. What really got me was the vintage lunch boxes that ring the dining room at Jerry's Place.

When I was a kid growing up in the 70's I remember one of the best things about a new school year was getting a brand new lunch box. My mom would take me and my sister to Caldor and we would get to pick out which lunch box we wanted. I remember having an Evel Knievel box, Happy Days, Hong Kong Phooey and many more.

The way I remember them is being a small square metal box with a hard plastic handle. Inside there was a thermos and just enough room for a sandwich and that apple that I would throw away. Here are some lunch boxes that I had, wished I had or maybe you had. Now that they are vintage the prices are a bit higher than I remember as a kid.
