Voting's All Time High

Yes there may be long lines but there are no excuses not to vote! Especially since one vote is coming all the way from the International Space Station!

Early voting is underway in the Capital Region! Throughout New York and across the country over 55 Million United States citizens have already cast their vote in the 2020 election! At this pace experts are predicting total voter turnout to eclipse 60% or 150 Million citizens!

Here on Earth there may be long lines and the weather is always changing this time of year but NASA astronaut Kate Rubins cast her ballot from the International Space Station. Now you have no excuse!

So how does one cast a vote from space? According to NASA, astronauts have been able to vote from space for the past 13 years. Rubins filled out a secure electronic ballot that, once she voted, was sent via email and officially counted. Rubins will be on her current mission until mid-April 2021.

Early voting in the Capital Region is far less complicated but will wrap up on Sunday November 1st. Here are some tips to voting early around Albany.

Find your polling location at www.vote.org. Once you arrive at the correct location you won't need to provide ID if you have voted in New York before. First-time voters may need to show ID to vote. A current/valid photo ID, current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document with your name and address will be fine. If you do not have ID you will be able to vote an affidavit ballot.
