What Girls Really Want on Valentine’s Day

Valentine's Day is right around the corner. For most guys, this a very dangerous time of year. One wrong move can get you in the dog house. So it's important to understand what your significant other is expecting from you.

The most important thing to keep in mind is to put forth an effort. Just trying will get you a long way. For us guys we are good with hearing the words "I care for you" or "I love you" but women not only expect you to say it, but also show it.

Here are some things you can do to show to her that you care about her.

Do all of the chores:

Believe it or not she will appreciate not having to do the dishes more than you hate doing the dishes. After sitting at work all day the last thing she wants to do is come home and start cleaning. This alone will get you huge brownie points.

Take control of where Valentine's Day dinner is going to be:

Cooking for her is probably the best course of action, but If you're the kind of guy who can burn a bowl of Cheerios, you might want to go out to dinner. Make sure to take the time to make reservations. Take choosing out of the equation. Women are just as annoyed with the "so where do you want to go? I don't know, where do you want to go?" conversation. If you know her favorite restaurant that would be a good place to start. Your favorite place is not.

Talk about her:

Ask about her day and follow along, make sure you ask questions and be involved. Do not complain about her shopping habits or what her favorite tv shows are. Keep the subject off of you, unless she really wants to bring up something about you.

Pay attention to the little things:

Make sure to put down the toilet seat, hold open doors for her, and be gentleman. Sometimes the little things are more important than the flowers or the $40 salad that she only had two bites of (remember the last tip.)

Dress to impress:

Now you don't have to go out and rent a tux, but remember that dorky button-up she bought you for your birthday last year? You know the one you told her you were waiting for the perfect occasion to wear it? Well this is just that occasion. Wear something that she likes, no matter how worried you might be bumping into someone you know.

For the ladies, please go easy on him. Men are not the most creative when it comes to expressing how much he cares about you. If he followed any of these tips just know that he is trying very hard to show you he cares.
