The home run derby is a part of baseball that I have loved since I was a kid. The best of the best hitters doing nothing but hitting big homers into the stands.  Last night one of my favorite players took this years crown.

Robinson Cano is one of the best hitters on the New York Yankees, and has been for a few years now.  If you had told me that he was going to win this years home run derby I would of been a bit skeptical.  I don't really think of Robinson Cano as a power hitter in the major leagues, but more of an all around good baseball player.

I think he surprised everyone when he made it into the final round and faced the Red Sox Adrian Gonzalez, who right now leads the league in RBI's and overall average.  Gonzalez is currently 10th in the American League in homers with 17, Cano is right behind him with 15 though.  So once again it comes down to Yankees Red Sox and the Yankees prevail.  Cano beats Gonzalez in the final round 12-11, in classic Yankees Red Sox dramatic fashion.
