Nearly sixty properties being foreclosed on by the City of Troy are being auctioned off to the public. A number of residential and vacant pieces of land are up for bid. Perhaps the most interesting is this abandoned old church.

Most recently, it was owned by the Korean Baptist Church of Albany, but apparently has not been used since 2019. Property taxes have piled up to over $250,000.

The Times Union reports that the building also used to belong to Memorial Methodist Church before they merged together with Hope United Methodist in Eagle Mills.

In addition, there are a number of other properties, mostly residential, that are up for bidding. Some of the real estate needs some rehabbing, but Troy Mayor Patrick Madden says that's what the sale is all about.

The next round of foreclosed properties is now available for public bid. This popular program helps return inactive buildings and empty lots to productive use and stabilize neighborhoods. I encourage interested members of the public to explore the list of available properties available for sale this summer.

A full list of foreclosure properties can be found at troyny.gov. Not a lot of information on each property is listed, but a google maps search can get you a street view of each structure. The city will be accepting bids until August 29th. The city council has the final say on the sale of all properties.

Vacant Since 2005, See Inside this Abandoned Apartment in Troy

Known as the John P. Taylor Apartments, this was a public housing complex along River Street in Troy. The buildings were built in the 1950's and have become part of the Troy skyline. They were last used in 2009 and have since fallen into disrepair due to vandals and neglect.
