Albany Area Hero Dies From 9/11-Related Illness
A New York State trooper has died from an illness related to recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site after Sept. 11.
According to Fox News, Trooper Michael J. Anson, 56, of Albany County served as a New York State trooper for 31 years. His career started Sept. 22, 1986. He was a School Resource Officer in the Averill Park and Brunswick School Districts from 2003-2010 and was a Academy Training Officer from 2012-2017. Anson was assigned to aid in "search and recovery efforts" after the 9/11 attacks in New York City. Thousands that helped in the recovery efforts of 9/11 have been plagued by illnesses that are believed to be linked to the toxins from the smoke and ash at the site. Trooper Anson is survived by his wife, three children, and his brothers.
