Recently I was in Ballston Spa, checking out the shops along Front Street when I noticed 2 steel beams that I thought were displayed as modern art. Once I got closer I realized this is a memorial to 9/11 and these "beams" are actually rails from the World Trade Center.

These aren't just pieces of steel, these are a portion of the tracks that brought thousands of New Yorkers to the World Trade Center every day and home every evening. Some of those New Yorkers lost their lives after riding these rails Tuesday September 11, 2001 and the train never ran again.

The village of Ballston Spa established this memorial as a way to remember all who perished in the terrorist attacks on September 11th. The inscription on the accompanying stone states:

These rails from the Port Authority Trans-Hudson Rail System ran under the World Trade Center and are displayed here as a reminder for generations to come that we will never forget.
