Bomb Threat Fugitive Found Living In the Woods of Upstate New York
Where do fugitives go to hide from law enforcement? Some might choose to flee the United States and head to Cuba or the Russian Federation to avoid extradition. Others keep on the move, drifting from town to town and some hide out in the woods.
Just this month a New York fugitive, suspected of making bomb threats, had been hiding in the woods of the Capital Region. Here's how he got caught.

Starting in March of 2023 New York State Forest Rangers, Lieutenant Kerr and Rangers Hamm, Nally, and Thompson have been working with the U.S. Marshals Service in the search for a wanted fugitive from Gloversville, NY. Their search led them to the woods.
Arietta, New York is a small town of approximately 300 residents in Hamilton County. You could say that this destination is fairly remote with 95% of the town on New York State Forest land. A fugitive might say, a good place to get away from it all.
On Tuesday August 22nd, according to New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), while officers were patrolling State land, they spotted their subject. This individual had set up a camp near Chubb Lake.
Once Rangers spotted the suspect and had a visual on his camp they contacted the Marshals who tracked the suspect for the next day and ultimately arrested them in Schenectady on Aug. 23 without incident.
The 35-year-old suspect was wanted on parole violation and suspected of making bomb threats. The individual had been living in the woods on State land with minimal outside contact.
