Song Mountain in Tully is considered one of Upstate New York’s most characteristic mountains. One characteristic customers could have done without this past weekend was the malfunctioning chair lift.

According to Syracuse.com, Song Mountain's chair lift abruptly stopped working Sunday afternoon leaving skiers and snowboarders, moms, dads and kids literally up in the air for hours. 25 feet high at 25 degrees!

We had an issue with one of the chairlifts, and we evacuated everyone off safely, and the ski patrol did a great job, and everyone is down and safe, and a little chilly but were happy that it all worked exactly to plan. - Peter Harris, owner of Song Mountain

In the end it is estimated that at least 100 skiers and snowboarders were stranded in frigid temperatures for around 2 hours. There were no reported physical injuries.
