Props to the Capital Region for coming together and stepping up to make a terrible situation a bearable.

One day before Holy Trinity's first playoff game the Schenectady football team lost all of it's equipment to an apparent arson fire early this morning.

While the news was obviously devastating to the team and their coaches there is some good that comes out of this unfortunate event that is definitely giving me all the feels today. People and teams from all across the Capital Region, including the University at Albany football team, have come out in full force to donate equipment and funds so that the team can play in their first ever playoff game tomorrow and begin to rebuild after.

Now I know all these feels are the result of some bad life decisions of one (or a few) but it's stories like this that totally restore my faith in humanity. According to the Times Union the teams head coach John Barber has vowed that the team will indeed play tomorrow after sifting through all of the donations to make sure the team is outfitted with properly fitted equipment saying:

We may look like a bunch of hooligans but we'll be padded up and ready to go.

If you want to donate equipment you can call 518-235-7100. There has also been a GoFundMe account set up to replace equipment and rebuild and it's already $10,000 into their $100,000 goal!

twitter has a bunch of photos of the aftermath if you want to see just how bad things are.
