Are Coffee Prices Going Up in New York?
The economy in 2025 has been a bit of a roller coaster ride. Families in New York State are finding creative ways to make ends meet but it doesn't look like there is going to be much relief in sight as new tariffs have made the price of several goods more expensive for retailers, which consumers will see impact them.
Coffee is one of those items that has been directly impacted when it come to cost. If you've been to the grocery store recently you've probably noticed that the prices have gone up quite a bit on your favorite coffee, and according to CNBC coffee is up in price on average about 14%. People are paying around $8 for a pound of ground coffee.
The price increase is due to tariffs on a number of places where the US gets their coffee from including Bazile, who has had a 50% tariff. It's not just the prices at the grocery stores that are rising, coffee shops are having to pass the increases along to consumers as well.
It used to be cheaper to just make your own coffee at home, but at this point I think either way you're paying a whole lot more than what you're wanting to. I generally will buy Stewart's ground coffee (got to keep it local) and this price of that bag of coffee has gone up to $7.99 when I last purchased it.

Experts say it isn't just coffee that is seeing an increase. Tea, another big beverage here in the United States, is also seeing a rise in prices thanks to tariffs in place against big tea importers like India.
What else is getting more expensive?
Coffee isn't the only thing that is costing us more. Under new tariffs, and also thanks to inflation, a lot of fresh produce that is imported to us is going up. This includes things like bananas to bell peppers. Things like meat and poultry are also up in price, as well as candy and chewing gum.
In 2025 the consumer is falling victim to these price increases. It doesn't appear like they're going to drop any time soon.
