Crossgates Mall In Albany Asking to See Your Photo ID This Weekend?
Crossgates Mall in Guilderland will turn 39 on March 4th. Four decades of shopping, going to the movies, grabbing a bite to eat, seeing a comedy show or just walking around. If you plan on heading to the mall in the next few days, make sure to have your photo ID. You might even need your parents to go with you.
Crossgates Mall is enforcing a 'Parents Escort Policy' this weekend.

This policy is nothing new. According to Albany Business Review, these guidelines were instituted as far back as 2005 following some violent youth activity at the mall. Here is the quote found on the Crossgates Mall website regarding the weekend of February 24, 2023 - Sunday February 26, 2023.
Please note that from Friday, February 17th through Sunday, February 26th, 4pm - close, anyone under the age of 18 visiting Crossgates must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 21 years of age or older.
If you had plans of dropping your teenagers at the mall for a few hours this weekend you will have to alter those plans. From 4pm until close, anyone 17-years-of-age or younger must be accompanied by a parent or an adult that is 21 or older.
MB-18, must be 18. If you are 18 or older make sure you have valid photo identification. You can use your driver’s license, state identification card, military ID, passport or visa. This policy does not apply to the entire mall, however.
MB-18 does not apply to stores, restaurants & venues with exterior entrances. Maggie McFly's is an example of a business you can enter without showing identification. For a full description of the Parents Escort Policy click HERE.
