According to the New York State Department of Labor (DOL) you will never be contacted by the DOL over social media or text messages. If you see a message that appears to be from the DOL criminals might be attempting to scam you. Don't click any links!

These scammers are hoping to obtain your personal information in order to file fraudulent Unemployment Insurance claims and illegally collect benefits in your name, even though you might be employed. Don't click any links!


Report allegations of fraud. If you receive official communication via email, letters or tax forms as examples, from NYS DOL regarding Unemployment Insurance benefits that you did not apply for, you may be a victim of fraud and identity theft.
