A false report of a shooter at Colonie Center late Sunday afternoon left shoppers in panic mode.

According to the Times Union, an incident at Colonie Center Sunday had people believing an active shooter was in the food court area, sending shoppers fleeing. Reportedly at 5:11pm, a man was arguing with a clerk at a kiosk about a missing cell phone. He threatened a clerk, claimed to have a gun, and proceeded to slap the kisk several times which customers mistook for a gunshot according to police. Police say the man did not have a gun and that there was no shooting. 33 year old Trashalla A. Gillbey of Schenectady was charged with misdemeanor criminal nuisance and several violations. He is in Albany County Jail awaiting arraignment. The mall began security protocol during the incident and reopened shortly after Gillbey's arrest.

A scary moment for the Capital Region, but happy to hear that no one was hurt during the incident.
