A big winter storm is trekking across the country, making its way to Upstate New York to kick off the week.

Get some gas for the snowblower and a fresh bag of rock salt because it looks like February will be starting off with a bang Monday! The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Capital Region and is calling for heavy snow that could drop 8 to 15 inches of fresh powder in the area. The snow is expected to start sometime Monday morning, with this one wrapping up Tuesday afternoon.

We are long overdue for a big storm after a pretty snow-free January. After last week's warm-up snowfall, it looks like winter 2021 is ready to get rocking again. This winter storm must be a big deal too because she has a name: "Orlena." The Weather Channel says Orlena is the same storm that has been dumping a ton of snow across the nation, and by the time it makes its way to the Northeast this one will be a full-blown Nor-easter. And how appropriate is it on Groundhog Day Tuesday as we await word on 6 more weeks of winter or early spring, we will pretty much be getting the signal that more winter is on the way.

So as you kick off the week, your morning commute Monday should be relatively unaffected. But get ready to deal with snow for your ride home Monday and as you get your day started on Tuesday.
