It's a winter constant in the Northeast, as temperatures begin to rise, the icy waters of the Hudson River begin moving, bringing large chunks of ice with it. Ice eventually builds up, creating a dam or 'ice jam' at certain points in the river - usually at a bridge.

This ice jam is happening in Warren County at the Warrensburg-Thurman town line. The bridge that connects the two towns is currently closed due to flooding on both sides.

Talking to NewsChannel 13, Warrensburg resident Joe Hill says its just part of life this time of year, in fact, this year isn't too bad compared to years past:

In years past the ice has hit the bridge hard enough to move it before. At one time it moved the bridge, I believe, 5 or 6 inches.

Over the past couple days water levels have fallen back a bit, but Route 418 (River Street) remains closed between Hickory Hill Road and River Road until crews can be sure it's safe. Rain is expected Tuesday night and temperatures are expected to rise to about 50 on Wednesday (2/23), which could prolong the problem. There is currently a flood advisory in that area until at least 11am Wednesday.

Also not helping matters, the threat of more snow coming Thursday night into Friday, although it's not yet known how much it will effect the area.
