‘Sopranos’ Restaurant Pays Moving Tribute to James Gandolfini
Tributes have been pouring in from friends, colleagues and fans ever since the news of James Gandolfini's death broke yesterday. But one of the most fitting tributes took place last night at Hosten's Brookdale Confectionary in Bloomfield, NJ, where the finale of 'The Sopranos' was filmed.
Those familiar with the series finale will recall the meal Tony Soprano had in the ice cream parlor/restaurant with his family as well as the ambiguous fade to black, which may (or may not) have signaled his death at the hands of a hitman.
Fittingly, fans flocked to the eatery last night after learning of Gandolfini's death, and to mark the actor's passing, Holsten's placed a "reserved" sign at the booth where the actor sat.
Chris Carley, the owner of Holsten's, remembers Gandolfini as a down-to-earth person. “During his down time, he’d be outside smoking a big cigar, talking to people. He seemed like real regular guy,” he said.
Gandolfini died at the age of 51 while in vacationing in Rome, Italy. An official cause of death hasn't been released, but he may have died from a massive heart attack, according to a HBO spokesperson. Relive the famous 'Sopranos' finale moment below.
