When you think of Thanksgiving, what specifically comes to mind? Perhaps football, or maybe gathering around a table full of loved ones to share a meal, or maybe even the awkward tension between the relatives at opposite ends of the political spectrum. Well, I don't know about you, but the quintessential Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade sure stands out amongst Thanksgiving traditions that I can think of.

Individuals across generations celebrate their favorite characters and icons as the various theatrical numbers, musical performances, and ginormous balloon replicas make their way through the parade route. Anyone who's anyone in pop culture in the realm of fictional characters has a balloon in the parade. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has included character staples like Spongebob Squarepants and Mickey Mouse for the past decade or two, which is nothing compared to the 41 years Snoopy has under his belt.

Unless you're one of the millions of people who arrives in NYC at 5am wearing a diaper just to be shoved together tighter than a pack of sardines, the parade typically only creates positive memories... Unless of course, you had to witness these balloon mishaps firsthand. Some only caused damage to memories, but others also caused some serious medical incidents as well. Take a look:
