Exactly what is Ticketfly?  The Ticketfly ticketing system is the fastest growing,  independent ticketing and social marketing platform to purchase concert tickets online. Founded in 2008 by Andrew Dreskin and Dan Teree, Ticketfly promises a 30 percent lower ticket fees than Ticketmaster.   Q103 opted to go with Ticketfly.com for our Thanksgiving Hangover show featuring Staind because we wanted to keep ticket prices low for our listeners.

Ticketfly also intends to differentiate itself from Ticketmaster by making it fast and easy for venues and promoters to update show information and promulgate it on social networks.   Ticketfly also plans to offer discounts to fans who post ticketing links to their social networking friends.

Ticketfly has an interesting origin story, the company’s co-founders sold their first startup, TicketWeb to Ticketmaster for $35 million in 2000 and then left that company in 2008 to form Ticketfly.

Ticketfly founders felt that Ticketmaster was missing out on a opportunity by not using social marketing and they realized there was a market in catering to the small venues.  That is what really sets ticketfly apart from Ticketmaster- it offers promoters the chance to create a Ticketfly Events page, an integrated Concert site and Facebook Event. Promoters save time and money as well as making it easy for the consumer to purchase tickets with smaller service fees.  Consumers will also be able to purchase tickets to show thru a ticketfly mobile app.

Ticketfly is more than just ticketing – it’s mission is to build out all of the technologies that make marketing and communicating with fans easier and faster so venues and artists can sell more tickets.
