Happy Birthday today (Feb. 15) to guitarist Jake E. Lee (Ozzy Osbourne, Badlands, Red Dragon Cartel). He’s 60. Other rockers celebrating include singer Brandon Boyd of Incubus (41), and rock n roll hall of famer Mick Avory (drummer for The Kinks) is 73.

Jake E. Lee replaced Randy Rhoads (after his passing) as guitarist in Ozzy’s band from 1983-1987. He appeared on Ozzy’s Bark at The Moon and Ultimate Sin albums and later went onto form played the popular hard rock/metal band Badlands. After disappearing from the music for quite some time, he resurfaced with a brand new project called Red Dragon Cartel in 2013 and released an album in 2014. The album featured guest appearances by many rockers including singer Robin Zander of Cheap Trick. You can check out a Jan. 2014 review of the album from Loudwire.com here.  The band toured regularly supporting the album and went through several lineup changes. Red Dragon Cartel is currently in the studio working their second studio album.

I had a chance to meet Jake a couple years back at a show. Check out photo below. Cheers to this 80's guitar god on his 60th birthday!
