There is nothing quite like the Kentucky Derby.  It is one of my favorite times of the year as it signifies the start of the beloved horse racing season.  The first Saturday in May every year at Churchill Downs in Louisville Kentucky is where avid horse racing fans and casual horse racing fans join as one in the most historic horse racing event in the sport.  The field looks really strong for the 2022 Derby and there is a local horse trainer who have a horse featured in the race on Saturday evening.  Here is my quick take on this from the Times Union:

Trainer Chad Brown could not have asked for a better post position for the Kentucky Derby. Zandon will start from gate 10, which is right in the middle, and with a clean start should be sitting perfectly in the field of 20. The Mechanicville trainer whose 0-6 in the Derby has plenty of competition to beat on Saturday , but there is a reason why the Blue Grass Stakes winner is the morning line 3-1 favorite. Epicenter 7-2 second choice, and trained by Steve Asmussen won’t be easy for Zandon to beat. And there are plenty of others who could win, that’s the beauty of the Derby.

MJ and I had on freelance horse racing analyst and writer Tim Wilkin earlier this afternoon on Big Board Sports.  While I am a huge horse racing fan, my colleague Michael Johnson Jr is not so much.  That being said, I do think he will start to follow it more now that he is the producer of our show.  Below is our full conversation with Tim.

I can't wait until Saturday for the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby.  I hope everybody watches it on NBC if they can as they always do an awesome job covering the Derby every year.  I will be rooting for Chad Brown and Zandon.
