2 Central NY Women Arrested for Animal Cruelty! How Could They Do This?
I am not qualified to suggest what goes on in the minds of others, especially when it comes to animal cruelty. What I can do is report an incident with the hope that this will create awareness for the next time you see something, you say something.
The story you are about to read is about animal abuse here in New York State. This isn't for everyone and the pictures may be upsetting to some but there are some furry friends that could use a new home. A loving home. Maybe that is your home.

According to the New York State Police, an emergency call came in to the Richfield Springs post in Central New York on Saturday July 2nd. Officers were asked to check on the safety and welfare of some animals living in a trailer in Edmeston, NY.
When Troopers arrived at the Taylor Hill Road residence the investigation began. It didn't take long to discover that the trailer had been abandoned and that several cats and dogs were existing inside. According to the press release, the animals were left in squalor, little to no ventilation, no water and no care.
2 individuals have now been arrested and accused of torturing, injuring and failing to provide proper care for these animals. Tamara L. Tophoven, age 57 of Edmeston and Rebecca Tophoven, age 43 of Edmeston were also charged with four counts of the Agriculture and Markets Law misdemeanor of Overdriving.
Michigan State indicates that a person charged with overdriving is accused of torture or cruelly beats or unjustifiably injures, maims, mutilates or kills any animal, or deprives any animal of necessary sustenance, food or drink.
With the help of the Susquehanna SPCA in Cooperstown, they were able to remove the animals. There were three dogs and five cats inside that trailer. The dogs have been adopted but the cats are still looking for homes. If you have a loving home consider adopting these cats. The Susquehanna SPCA can be reached at 607-547-8111.
