It Was An Elaborate and Idiotic Scheme

Matthan Carroll, a thirty-six-year-old Albany man was arrested back in February after an investigation by a variety of special government agencies. The United States Attorney, Active Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations, and US Postal Inspectors in Boston and the Postal Inspection Service were all involved in bringing Carroll to justice. He was accused of making fake government identification documents, opening a United States Post Office Box, and distributing methamphetamine drugs.

Carroll opened post office boxes in Clifton Park by stealing and using other people's information in order to receive shipments of methamphetamine through the mail. He would also ship out orders of methamphetamine through the mail using stolen identification. He made two fake government identification documents using his likeness with a stolen name.

Matthan Carroll Was Sentenced

On July 7th, Carroll admitted to selling over two hundred seventy-seven grams of meth and sending some of it through the U.S. mail. He was sentenced to ninety-four months which is nearly eight years in prison according to justice.gov. Carroll will also have to complete three years of supervised release.

Other agencies that brought down Carroll's scheme were the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the US Postal Inspection Service.
