Dept. of Transportation Needs You! 100+ Cap. Region Job Openings
This season's brutal winter weather forecast has the NYS Department of Transportation (DOT) preparing early. The DOT is looking to fill over 600 job opportunities across the state, 105 of which are located right here in the Capital Region. According to the Times Union, these jobs include both seasonal and full-time positions, such as fleet technicians and highway maintenance workers - among which are plow drivers, engineers, and service and repair mechanics. Typical responsibilities of a DOT worker consist of general highway and bridge maintenance along with snow and ice removal.
In a press release Wednesday, the DOT’s commissioner encourages hard working individuals who want to make a difference in the community to apply today.
Our DOT family of public servants is among the best trained at performing the essential services that make a real difference in the lives of New Yorkers. Our employees receive competitive pay and benefits, along with professional experiences that are only obtainable in public service. I encourage everyone who wants to be part of this dynamic team to apply today, so you can help us continue to perform the wide range of services that provide connectivity, safety and prosperity for communities. -Marie Therese Dominguez
Qualified candidates must be 18 years of age or older as well as pass a physical and a drug test. According to the DOT, certain roles require a clean and valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). However, even if you don’t have a CDL, you can still apply as the DOT offers CDL training and road tests. Some positions even include a call-out bonus and an allotment for necessities like footwear and tools.
