New York Capital Region Schools To “Give Back” Snow Days
Growing up in the southeast, "Snow Days" were a foreign concept to me. We'd get snow at least once a year in Georgia, but never enough to pull us out of school.

That's quite the opposite to how things are run up here, where snow days are expected. Sometimes, though, they're promised and never given...

Giving Back Snow Days
Typically, school districts in the Capital region have a set amount of snow days per year. Despite the harsh winter we experienced, most of these districts have not used all of their allotment.
Since a school year is meant to be exactly 180 days, it's unfair to make the students go for more than that just because the weather wasn't as bad as we thought. That's why, as we near the end of the school year, districts are giving those days back, barring any other weather or emergency days, of course.
