According to a press release, New York State Police out of Clifton Park received a complaint from the victim of a phone scam. The police investigation showed that the victim got a call and the criminal said the victim has a family member that is in trouble with the law. The criminal instructed the victim to transfer $9,000 into a specific account to handle the legal costs.

New York State Police were able to track the $9,000 money transfer to an account in the name of 24-year-old Anahis Holquin of the Bronx. On December 15, 2022, State Police of Clifton Park arrested Holguin on a warrant for Grand Larceny in the Third Degree.
