
Halfmoon Resident Scammed Out of $9000! NY State Police Make Arrest!

Busted! The New York State Police have tracked down one individual accused of stealing at least $9,000 from a Halfmoon resident.

According to a press release, New York State Police out of Clifton Park received a complaint from the victim of a phone scam. The police investigation showed that the victim got a call and the criminal said the victim has a family member that is in trouble with the law. The criminal instructed the victim to transfer $9,000 into a specific account to handle the legal costs.
New York State Police were able to track the $9,000 money transfer to an account in the name of 24-year-old Anahis Holquin of the Bronx. On December 15, 2022, State Police of Clifton Park arrested Holguin on a warrant for Grand Larceny in the Third Degree.
Imagine the desperate feeling that you have a family member in trouble so you throw $9000 at the problem hoping to help. Then you find out that money is gone and your family is not in any trouble. Holguin surrendered herself to State Police Clifton Park for processing. She was arraigned at the Clifton Park Town Court and released on her own recognizance.
