British actor Alan Rickman, known most for his characters in the "Harry Potter" movie franchise, "Die Hard," "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," and many other films has died at age 69 according to Huffington Post.

Rickman had battled cancer, his family noted in a statement to BBC News.
