Passenger Slashes Rideshare Seats After Heated Argument
A ride share passenger was so unhappy with his driver that he allegedly used a knife to slash the seats of the vehicle he was traveling in. Here's what happened.
Have you ever taken an Uber, Lyft, or another type of ride share to get from point A to point B? Most of the time the ride is uneventful, and generally unmemorable. With weapon confiscated and a suspect arrested, a recent ride share in Westchester County won't soon be forgotten.

On Friday April 17th, according to a New York State Police press release, Troopers responded to the area of Exit 5 eastbound of the New York State Thruway, after receiving a report of a disturbance involving a rideshare.
Upon arrival at the vehicle, a 2024 Hyundai Elantra, troopers interviewed the driver, who said his passenger became upset at the way he was driving and began yelling and being rude to him. The driver stopped to let the passenger out and discovered multiple cuts to the backseat and rear of the front passenger seat, which had not been there previously.
Troopers found the passenger who stated he became upset at the way the operator was driving and cut the seats with his knife. Miranda Mata had a folding knife in his possession that he admitted using to make the cuts.
50-year-old Dario Baruch Miranda Mata of White Plains was taken into custody and was charged with felony criminal mischief, 3rd degree for causing damage to another person’s property in an amount greater than $250.
