"Let's get hammered and steal a golf cart!"  You and I have probably said that with our friends more than once in our early twenties.  Luckily, I was coherent enough to never follow through with driving off with the cart after a round of nine and a twelve pack.  Sadly, a local man succumbed to the devil on his shoulder last week and did just that.

Craig Turczyn, 25, of Germantown down in Columbia County is accused of stealing a golf cart from security at Finch Paper in Glens Falls after a show at the Civic Center.  Police tracked Turczyn down, pulled him over and charged him with not only possession of stolen property, but aggravated DWI as well.  Apparently Turczyn's BAC was 0.23, well above the state limit of .08%.

Reportsstate that Turczyn has had two DWI offences in the last ten years so I'd imagine he may do time behind bars for this stunt.  Imagine that conversation in the big house -"What did you do to get locked up? Rob a bank?"  "Errr, stole a golf cart..."

Not to make light of the situation, but come on, dude stole a golf cart.  Here are some of the excuses I would give to the officers:

-Excuse me officers, have you seen a white Callaway ball with the initials CT?

-Fine, I'll just take a drop here and add a stroke.

-In my defence, this thing doesn't have four-way lights.

-Yes, my real name is Tiger Woods.

-Just out celebrating because I got a set of golf clubs for my wife -  what a great trade that was, eh?
