According to News 10 abc, a warning has been issued for Rensselaer County and the surrounding area to avoid drinking raw milk from ‘Breezy Hollow Dairy.’  The warning, issued by the New York Agriculture and Markets Department, is a result of a positive Listeria test.  The warning is specifically for those who drink unpasteurized, raw milk (something that I had no clue people even did).  According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), the Listeria bacteria can cause food poisoning resulting in a range of things from diarrhea to invasive infections and sepsis.  Thanks but no thanks!  I think I’ll skip the raw milk as a whole, but that’s just me.  I’d rather dip my cookies in hot chocolate anyways.  Luckily, so far no one has actually gotten sick, and according to News 10 abc, sales were voluntarily suspended as well as production by David Phippen Farm until the bacteria clears up.

Be safe out there- it’s a dangerous world, even for milk drinkers!  Listeria is no joke, glad this got caught before anyone got sick.
