National Toy Hall of Fame Nominees Showcase a More Simple Time

News 10 ABC recently posted about this year's nominees vying for a spot in the National Toy Hall of Fame.  First of all- I didn't even know there WAS a National Toy Hall of Fame.  I feel like this is something I would have loved as a child.  Secondly- reading through the nominations, I got a little bit bummed out with feelings of nostalgia.

Don't get me wrong, I love technology. I certainly use it every day.  But I can't help but occasionally miss a time when I didn't have to worry about checking e-mail (because it didn't exist), or think about the days when my cousins and I would hang out outside as kids until dark playing massive games of manhunt.  Or better yet- turn on my mom's record player and dance all around our living room to the sounds of Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton.

The toys nominated are a far cry from today's tablets, iPads, and video games...more to the tune of sand, magic 8 balls, PEZ dispensers, and board games.  Talk about a throwback! Reading the list definitely jogged some major childhood memories.  Check out all the details and toys here.  And let us know- what was your favorite!
