New York Reacts To Radio Host Being Fired Over Racist Comments
It's been over 24 hours since the news of a New York radio host being fired over racist comments made on a Wednesday morning show.
Morning radio host Rob Lederman was terminated from 97 Rock's Morning Bull Show on Wednesday evening, after backlash from comments made on the show's podcast, where he compared toast to black women's skin tone.
ESPN Buffalo Bills reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques tweeted out the audio clip, which has since gone viral.
Roswell Park and the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation later pulled marketing affiliations with the station, and released a statement that said in part, "the comments made conflicts with our values and culture."
The remainder of the Morning Bull Show was suspended by parent company Cumulus Media. They apologized and said they deeply regret the incident.
On Thursday afternoon, Lederman released a statement, apologizing for his comments.
"I want to sincerely apologize for hurting people with my foolish and ignorant comments yesterday. After listening to what I said, and how it must have sounded to others, I was horrified. I 100% understand why people are justifiably angry."
