NY Officer Saves Kitten Stuck In Fast Food Cup! How Did That Happen?
I hate to see litter but it is everywhere. Go for a hike and you will see napkins, candy wrappers, straws and all kinds of junk that could easily have been carried in and carried out. Same thing along our roadways. I even saw an old couch discarded at the end of our road. You can see just about any kind of garbage but here is something you would never have guessed.
Have you ever seen a kitten stuck in a cup? A New York State Environmental Conservation Officer did and that cat is lucky to be alive.
I could make a joke about "kitty litter" but this really isn't a joking matter. For one, you have garbage on the side of the road. For another you have a small kitten, with no apparent home, looking for food when it gets stuck in a cup from a fast food restaurant.
According to NYS DEC, on Tuesday May 31st, ECO Dougherty spotted something in the middle of the road in Western New York. This is late at night so it was dark and not easy to identify until he got closer. That is when he realized that it was a kitten that had gotten stuck inside of a cup. Specifically it's head had gone through the plastic lid.
The ECO was able to rescue the kitten from the roadway before getting run over by a vehicle. The officer needed to cut the lid away from the cat's neck and then transfer the little guy to be checked out. The good news? The kitten was later adopted.
Don't litter. It's just stupid and you kill a defenseless animal.
