Remembering Singer Jani Lane of Warrant
Today we remember Warrant frontman Jani Lane. He would have been 53.
Warrant had the most success from 1989 -1996 with album sales of over 10 million. Their first two albums were very successful. The debut album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich featured the hit single ‘Heaven’ and went double platinum. They followed that up with the hit album Cherry Pie in 1990 which also went double platinum. Jani Lane left the band in 2004 initially, and rejoined the band for a brief reunion, before leaving once again in 2008. In addition to his work with Warrant, Jani Lane also had a solo career. He died of acute alcohol poisoning at the age of 47 on this day (Aug. 11, 2011.) A public memorial concert was held for Lane on Aug. 29, 2011 at the Key Club in Hollywood featuring performances from fellow rockers Great White, Quiet Riot, and L.A. Guns.
R.I.P. Jani Lane. Crank up some Warrant tunes today in Janie’s memory, I know I will be.
