Simpsons Make Fun of Upstate New York, Cuomo Responds
In case you somehow missed it (though it was all over the news and social media), the 'Simpsons' recently had an episode where it made fun of Upstate New York. It even hit close to home, with Niskayuna making an appearance as part of the episode.
I saw this all over, but what I didn't realize was that Governor Cuomo actually responded to the episode. On top of that, the producer of the 'Simpsons' responded to him! Seriously? This has become something out of one comedic episode of a satirical cartoon.
According to the Times Union, after the episode aired, Governor Cuomo responded. He actually said he had never even seen an episode of the show (seriously?! I don't believe it). He mentioned something about writing a letter to the 'Simpsons', and Al Jean, producer, has responded. Jean had a pretty hilarious response:
"It has come to our attention that you have never seen an episode of The Simpsons," Jean wrote. "Please accept with our best wishes this Season 4 DVD. You might find its ideas on monorail transportation, dental plans, and local theater intriguing. Or you might just enjoy an episode or two when the demands of Albany prove too unyielding. In either case, please enjoy, and if you would like to come to LA for a 'table read' you are welcome any time." [Times Union]
