This Young Man Gets Stuck On Bridge While Hiking In New York
Do you know what a newel post is? these are the posts that support the handrail on staircases. Now, admit it, when you were a child you tried pushing your head through these posts only to find yourself stuck. If you didn't do it your dopey brother probably did.
A similar but much more dangerous situation occurred earlier this month in the Adirondacks. A young man got his leg stuck between boards on a bridge. Check out the pictures below to see the sticky situation this boy found himself in.
On Wednesday August 14th, according to a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) press release, a mom and her son had been on a nature walk in Long Lake, New York when they youngster managed to wedge his leg between boards of a bridge.
At approximately 11:45a the 30-year-old mom from Quebec called Ray Brook Dispatch to report the incident to New York Forest Rangers. Assistance was requested and authorities responded.
New York State Forest Rangers arrived at Burn Road trail bridge at Rock Pond in the Whitney Wilderness at 3:25pm. This young man had been stuck for approximately 4 hours at this point.
Rangers were able to cut the wood of the bridge and the subject was freed. Rangers escorted mom and son back to their campsite. The entire incident was over by 5pm.
