Investigation determined that a 2012 Ski Doo traveling south on a marked trail lost control and struck a log pile ejecting 17-year-old operator Steven J. Gregorie. Traveling behind Gregorie was a 16-year-old friend operating a 2015 Arctic Cat. The 16-year-old also lost control and left the marked trail striking the same pile of logs and he was ejected.
So now we have 2 machines that lost control, and 2 young boys ejected from their machines.
Sadly, the 2015 Arctic Cat came to rest on Gregorie. Individuals not involved in the accident called 911 and assisted on scene. Gregorie was transported by ambulance to the Wyoming County Community Hospital and was pronounced deceased. An autopsy is scheduled by the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office. The 16-year-old had minor injuries.
No signs of foul play. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Collision Reconstruction Unit and ENCON assisted in this investigation.
