As reported by the Daily News, television actress Allison Mack has been arrested for having a main role with the NXIVM sex cult, based out of the Capital Region.  Allison Mack is best known for her main role in the show "Smallville" over ten years, and her role on the show "Wilfred."  According to the Daily News, her role with NXIVM was as an aggressive recruiter of women.  She apparently was just below cult leader Keith Raniere in power, and had female 'slaves' under her control whom she forced to engage in sexual acts with leader Keith Raniere, as well as to be physically branded with initials.  According to the Daily News, this happened right in the cult's upstate location.

For those of you not familiar with the NXIVM cult case, the Times Union announced back in March that cult leader Keith Raniere had been arrested for human trafficking charges.  The NXIVM cult, which I've also seen called 'DOS' in news reports, was founded by Raniere about two decades ago, and exploited and coerced women according to the Times Union.  While the cult is based out of the Capital Region, Raniere was arrested in Mexico at a luxury location.
