Crews tore down two homes in Schenectady Monday after a mudslide caused the collapse of a hillside.

According to The Times Union, two homes on Barney Street were demolished due to the threat to other buildings below on Nott Terrace. 11  Barney St. was nearly gone by 11am Sunday morning and the second building at 15 Barney St. was left hanging over the hillside when the mud gave away. A man was trapped in his Nott Terrace home for a period of time making for an unsafe situation. Another major mudslide happened over 20 years ago in Schenectady (Jan. 19, 1996) when a hillside above a gas station on Broadway collapsed killing a man and nearly burying a woman alive.
