4 Favorite Capital Region Stores for Last Minute Christmas Shopping
As I write this we have approximately 48 hours of Christmas shopping left! Isn't this when us guys start our shopping? Being new to the Capital Region I decided to head out earlier than usual this year to shop local. Here are 4 of my favorites that may help you find some last minute gifts. (In no particular order)
- Last Vestige Music Shop - 173 Quail Street, Albany - You couldn't miss Last Vestige even if you were lost. Their bright pink exterior covers the store front and makes you curious to go inside. Once in I found a large selection of vinyl but they also carry CD's and tapes in several genres. Rock, Country, Jazz, Punk Rock, Blues and much more. I left with 2 Hardcore albums for my son.
- Wit's End Giftique - 1762 (Route 9), Clifton Park - Similar to Last Vestige, the exterior caught my eye with thousands of Christmas lights shining in the night. We had to see what this was all about. Passing the singing animatronic carolers we entered a store with literally everything. I was looking for Capital Region gifts for my mom and found wind chimes made in Woodstock and Beekman lotion from Sharon Springs. Wit's End several rooms on several floors filled with ornaments, jewelry, clothing and candy. The wall of gift wrapping behind the counter reminded me of department stores from days gone by.
- Parkway Music - 1777 (Route 9), Clifton Park - Just down the street from Wit's End! If you have a musician on your list I highly recommend Parkway Music. I was looking for a hi-hat stand for my son's drum kit and I was blown away but their drum department featuring full kits and every accessory you would need. I ended up with a pre-owned Pearl stand that was cheaper than a new one but better quality than most new ones. Locally owned and specializing in guitars, amps, pro audio and drums to name a few. Parkway will close Christmas Eve at 2pm.
- Vischer Ferry General Store - 357 River Road, Rexford - Talk about the quintessential Capital Region general store. We made the ride for breakfast but ended up picking up a few unique items. This is the perfect place for your stocking stuffers. You should know that Vischer Ferry General Store is currently open for online shopping and back porch pick up.
Wear a mask! Support your Capital Region stores and Merry Christmas!
