Starting in 2026 you're going to start seeing fewer 7-Eleven stores across the country including Upstate New York.

While we don't have many 7-Eleven locations around the Capital Region we do have a few. I actually frequent the location on Washington Ave Extension quite often as I drive past it to get to work. 7-Eleven also happens to own Speedway locations, which we have many of in our area. It doesn't appear that Speedway will be affected by the 7-Eleven news, and that news is that they're closing hundreds of locations in the fiscal 2026 year. That means until February 2027 you'll see some 7-Eleven stores either fully closing, or closing to be renovated, or possibly just be open for gas alone.

The whole thing is kind of confusing to me. I guess many 7-Eleven stores that also sell food will lose that portion sell only fuel. 7-Eleven doesn't count fuel only stores as part of their roster, according to Today.

Which locations will close?

Right now there is not a full list of stores that are on the chopping block. Within the next 11 months we will see the underperforming locations begin to shutdown.  The announcement came after fourth quarter filings. The hope is that them closing these locations will help their earning in North America.

It has been a tough game for gas stations as people are growing more used to stores like Wawa, Sheetz, and Buc-ee's who offer premium food and made to order food. 7-Eleven did start doing that, but has apparently fallen behind.
