Madonna to Perform at Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show?

Will Madonna finally perform at a NFL Super Bowl halftime show? Speculation is that she is the front runner to perform at Super Bowl XLVI, held in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.  Nothing at this time has been confirmed and the NFL has yet to comment.  Madonna is not new to the rumors of performing at a Super Bowl.   She has twice before been close but both times fell through at the last minute.

These new rumors were started after Madonna made a comment that she is planning to release a new album in 2012 and the Super Bowl would make perfect sense to showcase some new material.

Should Madonna sign on to headline Super Bowl XLVI she will join others such the Black Eyed Peas, Usher, and Slash, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Prince and The Rolling Stones who recently performed at a Super Bowl.
