Poor Pup Injured While Hiking In New York, See How He Was Rescued
I find New York State to be a very dog-friendly state. Your furry friend is welcome in many hotels, restaurants and shopping malls. Colonie Center Mall on Wolf Road in Albany, for example, is not only dog-friendly but they have sanitary stations equipped with poop bags for easy clean up.
Of course the Empire State offers many outdoor activities for your pooch including beaches, hiking trails and campgrounds. Recently one dog in particular set out on a hiking adventure with his family and ended up needing to be rescued. Wait until you see this guy.
On Saturday August 3rd, according to a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) press release, Forest Rangers responded to a call from the Ray Brook Dispatch regarding an injured dog on a trail.
Following the start of an investigation, Rangers learned that an individual was hiking Giant Mountain in Keen, NY with their Siberian Husky. At some point the Siberian Husky injured its foot and refused to walk.
The initial call came into Ray Brook Dispatch at 6:20pm. The 30-year-old hiker from Manilus, NY was just over one mile from the trailhead but was unable to carry the injured dog. Approximately 2 hours later Rangers reach the duo.
Forest Rangers bandaged the pup's paws and helped them walk back to the trailhead. The entire incident was over by 10:15pm.
